The Preschoolers are the school seniors and are role models for the Toddlers and Baby’s.  Aged 3 and 4 years, our Preschoolers separate into two groups at particular times of the day to ensure developmentally appropriate provisions are available to each age group.

The main focus of the Preschool Program is the development of School Readiness Skills which include Socialization, Predicting Routines, Literacy and Numeracy skills and Project Based Learning (PBL).

Project Based Learning is a key feature throughout the centre.  Because of the cognitive abilities of children this age, PBL is taken a step further and utilized by staff to facilitate in depth enquires, as it is in Primary School.

Benefits if PBL

In PBL children learn to plan, research, ask questions and make choices with alternatives and apply knowledge acquired.  Projects can enrich children’s dramatic play construction, painting and drawing by relating these activities to things outside school.  It also provides more opportunity for children to apply both both mathematical and language skills.

Physical Environment

The Preschool Room is the largest of our rooms and leads directly to the outdoor learning area with its own Vegetable Garden,Compost Bin, Worm Farm and Chicken Coup.
